When enemy becomes ally
What a surprise ending to today's episode of Prison Break. I never thought it would be possible, but I love it. The next episode will be interesting. (^_^)
Prison Break is one of the reason I love Thursday. The other reason being it's one more day to weekend. Woohoo...
On a side note, I've been feeling that time passes quickly these few weeks. For example, I felt that I haven't post for a long time. At least a month. But actually, it's only 10 days. Don't know what's happening here. Rapid aging? Quarter century age syndrome?
And I've been busy with creating a
Netvibes widget (can also be used for iGoogle and Apple Dashboard) to help me track my investment. I'll submit it to
Netvibes ecosystem this weekend. Those who stays in Singapore may find it useful. At least it's useful to me. Well, just wait for the announcement then.

And the new idol is...
Not Blake, Jordin it is.
Hm... I thought I should change my prediction after watching the show. Reason being that girls may vote for Jordin, and guys don't really vote guys. Yeah, simple and silly logic.
Besides, she has the singing ability compared to Blake.
The
finale show this time is not as good as last year. Last year, I liked the performances by Prince and Clay Aiken. But this time, it's kinda dull, with the exception of Blake's beatboxing, Melinda's performance, and the Golden Idol Awards. Melinda was singing with whom she used to sing back up. Cool, isn't it?
Well, now that it's over, the good thing is I'm free to do whatever I want on Wednesday and Thursday night. Yippee!

American Idol 6 Final
Tonight is American Idol final, with Blake and Jordin taking the stage. I can't accept that Melinda is out. From the beginning I though she should win it. But hey, popularity plays a role here. According to
Yahoo, she's not too popular with the young. And the judges can't do anything about it.
Watching Melinda has been the big reason to watch AI for me, but now that she's no more, well... let's just watch it for the sake of watching the final.
The final result show is absolutely something to watch. The last year's show is just so good.
My prediction: Blake, because girls will vote for him.
Update:
I have watched it. Boring...

GARO is so cool
I watched
GARO this weekend. It's a dark and mature tokusatsu aimed for adults and young adults (18+).
What I love about this series are the actions and characters. The actions are totally over the top. It's almost like
Ryuhei Kitamura is behind it. The fight choreography is so good that I repeat the fight often just to see what cool moves they're doing. I also like how Kouga (the main character) do a somersault just to jump over walls and other obstacles. Unlike Kamen Rider, most of the actions in GARO are done in human form, not henshin form. So we can see lot of nice martial arts moves, which people in costume will probably have difficulty doing. The actions are also provided in generous amount. I don't know how they do it, they must have a great stunt team.
In the horror department, episode 5 managed to freak me out with the ghostly woman. It was 2 or 3 AM, I was alone, and suddenly the ghost woman just appears, in close up, for a few seconds. Then the Ju-on style head sliding from below, holding head from behind.. Damn..
The characters are interesting. Kouga is a super cool guy with a unique voice. I think he speaks a bit like a kid, unlike some cool other hero's heavy voice (
Tendou Souji, anyone?). Kaoru is cute, funny, and innocent looking. Rei is a cool, strange guy with sweet tooth. His motive is still not known as of episode 8.
Up to episode 8, there is not much storyline yet other than the weekly monsters. But who cares? The actions more than make up for it and the major storyline is definitely there, developing slowly.
To draw comparison with Kamen Rider, although Kamen Rider has interesting and mysterious story, I find that there are a lot of plot holes and the action could have been better. Kabuto is not too bad in action (Kabuto has a cool fighting style), but the plot hole is annoying. I hope this one doesn't have that problem. So far it's still consistent.
The ending song is also nice and lastly, Kouga really looks like
Shinomori Aoshi with the white coat.

Akiba Kanpe, the funny otaku
I stumble upon Akiba Kanpe from
JapanSugoi.com.
The first article I read is about
Waka Inoue. I've seen her before in the mokkori video. It's very funny and the way she laughed made it even funnier. Then I watched the Akiba Kanpe one. It's really really funny and I just wanted more and more of it.
If you watched Densha Otoko, you know him as "Amuro", the long haired weird otaku guy with eye on his hand. What he does in the show is "helping" (distracting) cute idols on interview. For example, he wrote silly answers to the interview question and it's supposed to "help" the idols answer the question. He also does silly thing, like falling from chair at an unexpected moment. But the best part is the hidden image show. Just
watch it to find out what it is.
Next in the comedy line, how about Razor Ramon HG? Who is he? Find out next. Fuuuuuu!

The anti smoking campaign that makes non smokers want to quit... watching it
The 30-second commercial, which first aired on all the four main language channels last week, is a graphic depiction of a woman afflicted with oral cancer. The camera zooms in on a tight shot of her face with a diseased tongue, decaying teeth and chapped lips riddled with sores.
According to the HPB, since last Tuesday’s launch of the three-month-long Smoking Control Campaign, its toll-free smoking QuitLine (1800-4382000) has seen a five-fold increase in the number of calls.
Housewife Leong Sow Chan was one of the peeved parents. Her nine-year-old daughter was so traumatised by the commercial the first time she saw it that she had a nightmare that night.
While she still does not think the commercial is in appropriate taste, she admitted that it "definitely turns me and my non-smoking family off. We are so disgusted we either switch channels when the ad comes on, or look away".
This is one advertisement that makes me want to call the number. It's just so gross. Yucks..
It's just too bad I'm not smoking. I couldn't find any picture of it from the net. Maybe I'll snap the picture from TV later.
Update: Here is the
picture.

THE MARROW OF A BONE
That's a rocking new album from Dir en grey. It was released on 2nd March.
I like this album, they're just getting better and better, or more like their style is more and more suited for me. It's a style of crazy noise followed by melodic sound.
Some gems are: CONCEIVED SORROW, THE FATAL BELIEVER, RYOUJOKU NO AME, DISABLED COMPLEXES, ROTTING ROOT, NAMAMEKASHIKI ANSOKU, TAMERAI NI HOHOEMI, THE PLEDGE, REPETITION OF HATRED, CLEVER SLEAZOID.
Trivia: do you know that Dir en grey is more popular than L'Arc~en~Ciel on Last.fm?
L'Arc~en~Ciel: 2,484,937 plays scrobbled on Last.fmDir en grey : 4,799,440 plays scrobbled on Last.fmThat was surprising for me.
Almost time for Survivor Fiji. This is the first Survivor series I bother to watch. It's quite interesting. One tribe living in luxury and another living survivor style. The interesting part is that the poor tribe never wins, their morale is bad, and they don't and may never bond together.
